Job Description:
Field Services Technician

Location: Metro Nashville Area
Employment Type: Contract to Hire, 90 Days
Experience Level: Entry-Level to Intermediate
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Job Summary

As a Field Services Technician at Gen-Syn Technologies, you will play a critical role in supporting our clients by performing on-site technical and general labor tasks. This position involves running service tickets, pulling and installing wiring, and assisting with project-related activities. We are looking for a reliable, hands-on individual with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. While some experience is preferred, we are committed to providing comprehensive training to help you excel in industry-specific tasks.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Ticket Resolution: Respond to and resolve service tickets related to IT and infrastructure issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions for clients.

  • Cable Installation: Pull, route, and install low-voltage wiring (e.g., Ethernet, fiber optic, or coaxial cables) in commercial and residential settings.

  • General Labor: Assist with construction and infrastructure tasks, including equipment setup, site preparation, and material handling.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of IT and networking equipment under supervision.

  • Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with clients to understand their needs, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction.

  • Documentation: Accurately document work performed, including service reports, inventory usage, and time tracking.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior technicians and project managers to support project goals and timelines.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in IT, networking, construction, or a related field preferred; Networking experience strongly preferred; entry-level candidates with a strong desire to learn are encouraged to apply.

  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of IT hardware, networking, or low-voltage cabling is a plus but not required.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.

  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and a customer-focused attitude.

  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications are a plus but not mandatory.

  • Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel to client sites within the Metro Nashville Area.

  • Availability: Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed.
